Competition rules, requirements, and submission guidelines
The competition invites young architects to design a 200 m² urban pavilion within a 41,830 m² linear waterfront landscape at the Yongding River node, approximately 350 meters south of the New Shougang Bridge in Shijingshan District, Beijing.

Endorsed by the International Union of Architects (UIA). Organized by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources. Co-organized by the Beijing Institute of Architects. Advisory Institution: Architectural Society of China.
Eligibility
Open to young architects worldwide, individually or in teams. The author(s) or team leader(s) must have the right to use the title of architect in their country of origin or residence. All participants must have been born on or after 05/10/1986. Students, associates, employees, family members, or anyone closely related to jury members and persons involved in the preparation or organisation of this competition may not participate. Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged; only architects can serve as team leaders or authors. Landscape architects, urban designers, or urban planners may register as authors or coauthors. Team members from other disciplines may register as collaborators or consultants. Each participant may only join one team and submit one entry. Free registration.
Site & Design Task
The strip-shaped landscape transition zone is approximately 350 meters long from north to south and averages 120 meters in width, totalling about 41,830 m². The pavilion requires a total gross floor area of approximately 200 m² (±5%), designed as a single-story structure with a maximum height not exceeding 4 meters. Functional allocation: Comprehensive Service Core approx. 20% (visitor information desk 10%; high-standard barrier-free and family restrooms 10%); Panoramic Lounge Area approx. 40% (indoor lounge 25–30%; outdoor lounge and catering 10–15%); Cultural Micro-Exhibition Gallery approx. 30% (permanent exhibition 15–20%; temporary interactive zone 15–20%); Logistics & Supporting Space approx. 10%.
Submission Requirements
Fully digital online submission; no hard-copy documents required. Submit 1 A0 vertical exhibition board in JPG format at 300 dpi, including 1:100 general layout plan, 1:50 floor plans, elevations and sections, analytical diagrams, renderings, and key interior spaces. Submit an A4 design description covering design concept, site interpretation, technical chapter, operation plan, and economic and technical indicators. Honourable nominations and above must additionally submit a digital model (recommended formats: 3dm, skp, 3ds, fbx, obj, glb; max. 100 MB). Strict anonymity applies.
Official Language
The official language of this competition is English. All submitted drawings, design documents, registration information, and official communication emails must be provided in English. The Q&A Summary Document will be issued in both Chinese and English.
